A WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB BY THE RECOVERY LAB

A little less busy.
A little more book’d.

The holidays ask a lot of us. Book’d Not Busy is a virtual space to slow down, read, something meaningful, and talk honestly with other women about what it stirs up.

One book, a few gatherings, and permission to put yourself on the calendar.

More than a book club. Less than another obligation.

We read at our own pace, then gather online for guided conversations about what the book brings up for us: how we care for others, how we care for ourselves, and what we want to do differently.

No pressure to finish every chapter. Come as you are.

HOW IT WORKS

Simple, flexible, virtual.

01

Read on your time

Grab the book in whatever format works for you: print, ebook, or audio. You will receive a light reading guide so you always know where we are.

02

Gather and process

Join small virtual discussions focused on reflection, not book reports. Talk through what resonated, what challenged you, and what you noticed in yourself.

03

Take a little home

Leave each gathering with one small, doable way to care for yourself through the season. Less busy, more you.

Dates and times will be shaped around interest list responses so the group can gather when it works best.

How Permission to Put Ourselves First Has the Power to Keep Us Well

OUR FIRST BOOK

Autoimmunity and the Good Girls

How Permission to Put Ourselves First Has the Power to Keep Us Well, by Sara Hirsh Bordo

Filmmaker Sara Hirsh Bordo blends memoir, research, expert interviews, and women’s stories to look at what being raised to be “good” can cost us: always putting others first, staying quiet, running on empty.

It is a timely read for a season when so many of us are doing it all for everyone else.

Together, we will explore what it would look like to give ourselves the same care we give everyone around us.
